Birdseye Pass and Copper Mountain Roads

Almost exactly five miles south of the Boysen Dam turn-off is Birdseye Pass Road. Here is the map.

This photograph looks northwest with US-20 in the background.














We decided to leave Birdseye Pass Road and explore Copper Mountain Road.

The public road ends here. If you click on the photo, you might be able to see the home in the distance.

Back on Birdseye Pass Road, we passed this ranch:

At the "NO TRESPASSING" sign, we parked and hiked.

On the way home, we stopped in the Wind River Canyon to take some shots of the low-lying clouds. To the north, toward Thermopolis, the day was cloudy and overcast, but because of the Owl Creek Mountains which blocked the clouds, the Shoshone Basin was sunny--just for our enjoyment of taking pictures!

Boysen Reservoir, part 3

Just 4.2 miles south of the Boysen Dam turn-off (on Highway US-20) is a dirt road we overlooked until today. We followed it southwest toward the reservoir and found a place used by ice fishermen. Here is a link to the map.




Above is an abandoned ice fishing hole, and below is a shot my wife took of me.

We only had a four hour break from taking care of my mother-in-law, so we returned home following the road you see below.

Then we drove under the railroad bridge.

Before getting back to the highway, we stopped to take a few more shots. This shot looks northwest toward the reservoir.

This shot is more northerly with the highway in the background.

The photograph below is looking southwest toward the setting sun and the road we took for our hike.

The shot above looks northwest along the highway. The one below I took back in April. It is taken farther south and looks directly north before the highway curves northwest toward the entrance of the canyon.

On the way home, we stopped in the Wind River Canyon (above) to take a picture of the frozen waterfall below.
