Hamilton Dome, WY

Wyoming is often about surprises; my wife and I expect one thing and find another. Such is the case with Hamilton Dome. Where I come from, if a town's name is on a map, then a town IS there. In Wyoming, it could mean that it WAS there but may not be any longer.

The first three pictures below show a group of abandoned buildings that probably were part of a school or associated in some way. And I also found one house. Hamilton Dome is now just an oil field along with the buildings that are needed for its maintenance.

The water in this creek is just like the Hot Springs water--hot and filled with minerals.

Our picture taking opportunity was cut short because of a thunderstorm. Here are a couple of shots which show the incoming dark clouds.
